The Challenge

Waiter.com’s business is built around convenience. To expand their reach, it needed to be accessible to iPhone & iPad users.

The mobile app needed a high quality experience with the same functionality as the website. Also, they needed to have minimal latency and issues. They needed LogiGear mobile GUI development and knowledge of the mobile ecosystem.

The Solution

LogiGear’s development team worked with Waiter.com’s IT staff to drill down the development requirements at the beginning of the project. Getting the UI correct was instrumental to the success of the app. The team needed to minimize the number of steps, screens to navigate, and the buttons had to be readable and easy to access. Once complete, the app development was able to proceed rapidly.

Emulators were used for unit testing as the build progressed, and initial GUI tests were manually performed on live devices. Before delivering the app, large-sale testing was performed on multiple devices. The initial app developed by LogiGear was for iOS devices, which, in comparison to Android, minimized testing due to the limited number of devices and iOS versions the app needed to support.

The Result

The Waiter.com mobile app was made fully functional in a short term. Users can place orders and save multiple addresses along with any preferences with a small 9.5 MB footprint. Today, users rate the application 4.5 out of 5 stars.
